Creating a whole new routine for 2019! ⭐️

In 2018, I had a great routine set up and it was working well for me. By the end of 2018, I had NO routine. Maybe it was just because it was the end of the year and things were happening all over the place and maybe it was that I was just over my routine. Not following a routine caused everything else to go out of whack. For example, I lost track of when my bills were due at times and I stopped writing to-do lists during the week. This year, I want to create routines that stay throughout the whole year so things like that never happens and I can be as productive as possible. 

Starting with my morning routine. There was a time last year where I was able to wake up at 5am and get my day started before heading out for work. That lasted a good month and it went into the holidays which is where I think it all went downhill. I quit following my routine and I slept in longer than I should’ve. One of my goals this year is to wake up earlier and accomplish a lot of things before I go to work for 8 hours a day. I think the best way for me to follow this is by waking up at 5am and getting in at least 30 minutes of exercise. Our home gym is almost done so that means I literally will walk out my back door, into the garage, and will be able to work out in the comfort of my own house. No having to drive back and forth anywhere – easy. The hardest part will be getting my body to adjust to waking up so early. That means going to bed earlier which won’t be a problem for me since we get into bed by 9pm every night and even 8:30pm at times. So that’s the first step, which is why this week I’m going to train my body to wake up at 5am and just do things before work so it’ll help when the gym is done and I actually work out.

Aside from waking up early, I want to incorporate those things I want to do before going to work. I want to eat breakfast of course, get my lunch ready, drink coffee/tea with my husband, and blog. Blogging in the morning is the best for me because usually after work I have stuff to do and never have time to blog. On Monday mornings, I like to write out the things I have to do for the week and that way I know I won’t forget to do something. This would make be super productive in the morning and I would feel as if my day wasn’t wasted after working all day. 

Now, my skincare morning routine is something I am changing this year as well. My skin has been looking a lot better and I want to keep it that way. I cleanse my face every morning and put on moisturizer right after. Then comes makeup and whatever else. One of my skincare goals for this year is to go to a professional place to remove my acne scarring. That is the #1 thing that makes me insecure, the fact that it’s just around my cheeks and never goes away. Sometimes even makeup doesn’t fully cover it. Being comfortable in your own skin without makeup is something I’ve always dreamed of. I try to wear makeup only a bit during the week and it’s very hard for me to go to work without it, but it’s good for my skin. I was looking at buying the Clarisonic Mia, has anyone else used/tried this? Does it help and is it worth the price? Was thinking it might help with my completion and glow. It also would be nice to know I took all of the makeup off my face! 

So that’s the plan for my morning routine. My night time routine is a bit different. I’ve been doing a great job of going to bed early, it’s easy because I’m tired by 8pm, but sometimes I lay in bed for an hour or two not being able to fall asleep. So I use that time to browse Pinterest or Reddit. I tried melatonin and it helps a lot, but sometimes I forget to take it and I’m too lazy to get up. I also think my phone is a distraction at times, so putting that away and just clearing my head before sleep would be a better thing to do. I am also trying to limit the amount of time I spend on my phone overall, so this would be a big help. So top things I am adding to my routine: be in bed by 8:30-9pm so I can get 8 hours of sleep, take melatonin if needed and don’t be lazy about it, put away the phone, and make sure the room doesn’t have a lot of light. 

As for my night time routine, I am changing that up as well. 

  • remove any makeup using coconut oil like a cleanser instead of a coconut oil on a makeup remover wipe – the way I used to do it doesn’t work for me
  • after removing makeup with coconut oil, use a wet cloth to wipe down any coconut oil still left on my face 
  • wash face with moisturizing cleanser
  • put a face mask on (2-3x a week depending on how my skin is feeling)
  • add moisturizer and soft lip therapy on lips

My skin is usually very dry in the winter and I haven’t been very good at applying moisturizer before bed. On the days I don’t wear makeup, I’d skip the first two steps. 

2019 is going to be a great year and I plan to do a lot of things. I can’t do those things without a consistent routine, so let’s hope this will keep me going.

Tips for happier flying and a more enjoyable flight! ✈️

We all get excited to go on a vacation and if we get to fly out somewhere we know that eventually it gets boring on the plane. On my last trip, we had a four hour plane ride and I was losing my mind half way through it. I wish I had a list of things that would’ve improved that flight and made it more enjoyable which is why I am making a list of tips for future reference and for anyone else out there that gets bored on flights 🙂

  • Download games on your phone/iPad
  • Listen to some nice, relaxing music – since you usually don’t have Wifi on a plane unless you pay for it, I download a playlist on Spotify to use offline
  • Have a comfy pillow or blanket with you
  • Bring a coloring book or download a similar app on your phone
  • Bring your favorite snacks if you don’t like what they serve on the flight
  • Meditate – I have an app called Headspace that is great for this
  • Use essential oils to relax you
  • Make yourself comfortable
  • Bring a notebook and write down your thoughts, plans, goals, or lists
  • Read a good book
  • Plan out your week/trip if you haven’t already or a future trip
  • Buy a crossword puzzle book – I got a set of 3 game books that had Sudoku, word search, and a crossword
  • Clean up your phone – delete apps you don’t use, organize your pictures, clean out your contacts list, etc.,

Weekend plans + my Christmas tree!! 🎄

Hi all!!

It’s been a couple days since I last posted and I have to say it’s not because I’ve been lazy, but because I’ve been SO BUSY at work! Seriously, this week has felt like it’s 100 years long and it doesn’t help that I’ve had to sit in meetings pretty much all day everyday this week. I cannot wait until next Thursday because everything will slow down and everyone will be going on vacation in the next couple days. I will be blogging a lot during Christmas week because I will have way more time to. I will also do something I’ve been putting off for over 2 months now – my vacation video! Speaking of vacations, I could really use one right now 🙂

My schedule is pretty packed this weekend – my two best friends are graduating college so we’re having a dinner thing with one of them and a house party for the other one, I have a baby shower to attend, and of course attending the actual graduations too. On top of that, I need to go buy them gifts, the baby shower gifts, figure out what white elephant gifts I will bring for next week, and get holiday gifts for some of my co-workers. So lots of stuff to buy this weekend! Need to save up some money for the after Christmas sales because that’s when the have the good stuff 😉

I put up my Christmas tree like as soon as Halloween was over (super early, I know) so it’s been decorated and there are some gifts underneath it. I actually got this fake tree last year during the after Christmas sales. It was originally $50 maybe? Not 100%, but I paid $10 for it so it was a steal! So here is mine, it’s not dark outside, otherwise it looks better, but it’s still cute!

Long weekend + the flu 🤒

Good morning!

Last post I talked about my Thanksgiving and that Friday I took work off. Well, Saturday was a very pretty day with a high of 62 degrees so later that night we went to a bonfire with some friends and it was nice. It wasn’t too cold, but it got chilly by 10pm. By the time we left, I was FREEZING. I just thought that it was just because I was by the fire and half of me was warm and half of me was cold. But as soon as I got into the car, my spine started hurting. It was the weirdest thing! After 15-20 mins, I started getting aches everywhere. When I got home, I was shaking uncontrollably and I felt like it was zero degrees in my house. I had Mirhad wrap me up in 4 blankets and give me Nyquil. That night I ended up having a fever which turned into the flu. I’ve been trying to get rid of it since then and haven’t gone into work with fear of getting everyone around me sick. I would hate that. So I’m not going in until my symptoms are gone.

Besides that darn flu, I haven’t been productive at all and it sucks!!! I’ve been trying to clean up little by little which is working, but I can see how weak I am and it’s weird because I haven’t had the flu since like 5 years ago. That time I didn’t get out of bed for 2 weeks and I feel like that would be the case with this if I didn’t have to work! 

I’m coming up with my 2019 goals list slowly, there are some good stuff on there so far! I have lots of plans for 2019 and I am super excited! I think it’ll be a great year 🙂 Anyone else start coming up with their 2019 goals??

Today we will try to leave the house and go grocery shopping for some items and see if we can pick up something as a gift for my moms bday that’s in 2 days! We also have our nieces bday coming up next week so we need to find her a gift soon too.

But yeah, that’s my quick update.. until next time when I have a quality post and when I’m not sick 🙂

Friday + rants + photoshoot! 🎃

Good morning!

Ugh, I did it again.. I said I was going to blog 3x this week and here I am on a Friday morning blogging for the first time since Monday. Why has it been so hard to get back into everything again?!!? I feel like my life is flying by but I can’t do one thing I’ve been meaning to do. I need to figure it out before I go months and months doing the same thing. Maybe this weekend I can get back on track since we’re doing a major thing by cleaning out the garage and backyard. That way at least that will get me in the groove and maybe I’ll end up deep cleaning the whole house hahaha (hopefully).

So enough of my rant, I woke up this morning and it was COLD outside, but I am NOT complaining. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realize that I love winter more than summer. Yeah, summer is cool and all, but I can’t deal with the humidity. It was so hot this summer that I pretty much spent it all at home lol except when we wanted to escape to Dallas to actually swim and relax. That was probably the only time I enjoyed summer. I mean, I like summer but not here because seriously it’s too hot to even breathe sometimes LOL.

I am loving this weather though! I made my coffee, put my fuzzy socks on, and put a hoodie on and boy am I happy! I don’t know, I guess I just like the warm cozy feeling?? I just imagine myself living in a cabin type house somewhere (not IN the mountains) but nearby so I can see the snowfall in the distance. Ugh goals… dreams… one day ❤ 

Today I have some meetings for work, only one of them is like an hour and a half long, but at least the others are fine. I’m learning more and more at work and I think I will be filling in a new position soon enough! 

I just put some banana bread in the oven to bake, should be done in about 15 minutes. Banana bread is probably one of my favorite sweet breads, if that’s what it’s called. Smells super good right now 😋

Yesterday we went to a pumpkin patch with some friends and he ended up taking some really fun shots of Mirhad and I. I just saw them and they’re SUPER cute ❤ I just uploaded a couple of them, one of them is funny because I’m holding Mirhad’s finger so I don’t tip over lol. But I really like them! This one is deff my favorite, besides the fact that I’m holding his finger, but it’s fine I still like it hahaha.

Where have I been for the last week?!

Hello hello!

Happy Monday! I just got finished updating my blog and trying to make it look like Halloween and October themed. So far I like it, but I may end up changing it later. I am working from home today, haven’t gotten in the groove of blogging every day like I use to which makes me sad. I need to get back into it! I was planning on starting on my travel post yesterday and today, but I didn’t have time. I think I will start after writing this post though. I need to look through the photos on my camera first and then pick and choose which to put on here! The one on my header now is from that trip to Yosemite 🙂

So what’s been going on since I last blogged?? LOTS! Well, nothing too dramatic, but just some little updates here and there. Let’s see….. we finally bought a patio set and it was actually pretty cheap – $69 for 4 chairs, a nice glass table, and an umbrella. It’s perfect for us right now. I dream of the days I can wake up earlier and drink coffee outside sitting on my patio and enjoying some fresh air. And that day may be coming sooner than I thought! We can’t set it up until we clean out the garage and that little alleyway thing between our house and our neighbors because there are way too many mosquitos and bugs. So we have to clean all of that first so we can spray down the backyard and so I am able to park my car in the garage finally 🙂 this weekend was too hot to work outside, but next weekend it will be perfect weather to spend a whole Saturday cleaning it out and power-washing it. So I am looking forward to that.

What else? Hm, we bought some cool lights to put in the backyard too, so at night it can be pretty when we’re sitting out there. I also got a fire pit from my parents that’s really nice so we can have bonfires. It will be the perfect hangout spot! Even if it’s cold outside, I still see myself sitting out there with the fire going wrapped up in a blanket 😂

I’ve been working on my Pinterest a lot and have even posted one photo on there the other day which is a great start. It’s also been a struggle to host my own website outside of wordpress, it takes a lot of time and it’s hard for me to find that time. Hopefully I can finish it before the end of this year.

I started making a weekly to do list of things I want to accomplish from Monday-Sunday and it’s been working well. Sometimes I don’t finish stuff on there and if it’s not a huge deal I’ll add it to next week. But blogging at least 3x this week is on there, hopefully this helps me get back into the groove. 

Mirhad discovered that my camera is super good and is learning how to use it correctly which means he will be my photographer for everything!!! 😀 Woohoo, finally! Apparently I chose a pretty good one so I’m glad for once I did something right LOL. So pics will be happening more often now 🙂

I think that’s it for this update, hopefully the travel blog will be up by the end of this week. It’s on my list!

What I’m doing & what’s ahead! 🌻

Good morning!

Yesterday we went to get carry-on suitcases from Marshall’s and I ended up buying a really cute mug that says “Hello Fall” on it. It’s actually really big, I selected more coffee on the Keurig and it only got to halfway 😂 I also noticed this is the same mug my favorite Youtuber Casey Holmes bought the other day too!!! So I thought that was cool! 

So currently I am finishing up that cup of coffee. I feel good, I feel great. Woke up at 7:50 this morning and logged into work and I am now balancing my work stuff with blogging. The other day I bought Anastasia dip brow, I usually never do my eyebrows unless someone else does it for me for an event, but I’ve decided to learn myself so that I can fill mine in a little better. Maybe it’ll complete my makeup look, hopefully I don’t look scary lol. 

Today, Mirhad has to catch up on homework or I should say use this time to get ahead. He has an exam on Monday and then like 2 papers due after that and one of them is due on the 26th when we are in Seattle, so he’s going to have to finish that before. His teacher changed it last minute of course, but we aren’t cancelling our trip for that hahaha. 

We have a wedding to go to this weekend, but aside from that I’m going to be using this weekend to plan my outfits for the trip and plan pretty much everything so I am not doing it last minute like my trip to Dallas where I packed my clothes when I came from work 😂 We also need to deep clean the house this weekend so we don’t have to do that right before we leave. 

I was thinking about doing some yard work today, maybe cleaning out the weeds from my flowers up front and getting rid of any flowers that died. I am so bad at watering my flowers lol, but I swear I’ll get better especially now that it’s not scorching hot outside!

I need to book a nail appointment for next week, I am thinking about either doing black gel nails or a nude color. I am really feeling the black nails since it’s fall and it won’t get bad during my trip. About to get on Pinterest and just look for some more ideas!
