Fun things to do in New Orleans!

Good morning!

Happy Monday! Over the weekend, I thought of the great idea of going to New Orleans. My husband and I agreed we would go on a lot of weekend trips, but haven’t been since the end of January and mid December. Before that, we hadn’t gone on a weekend trip since my birthday. It’s time to start doing those again because, why not? Life is too short to not be traveling! The main reason I chose New Orleans was because it’s much warmer down there than it is here. Right now, it’s 7 degrees and it feels like -11. I’m really sick of the bitter cold, so a weekend getaway to a warmer place would be nice. Plus, I feel like it’s going to take forever for it to be really warm here so we need to go! We’d most likely do Friday-Sunday so we can get the full experience and so that we don’t have to drive into the city at night. It’s just easier to take a day off of work and leave when we wake up that Friday morning. We are targeting end of March or anytime into April depending on the prices.ย

Since then, I’ve been looking at some things we could do. So far I’ve come up with taking pictures of the beautiful buildings and eating the delicious food.ย

  • Visit Jackson Square
  • Walk on Bourbon Street and enjoy some music
  • Look at the beautiful buildings in French Quarter
  • Visit the Garden District
  • Explore the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas
  • Visit the French Market
  • Go to the City Park
  • Walk down Royal Street
  • Visit some cemeteriesย
  • Canal Street

Food:

  • Beignets
  • Fried Chicken and corn
  • Fried shrimp
  • Gumbo
  • Crab
  • Crawfish
  • Po-Boys

Has anyone else been to New Orleans? Any suggestions on where to stay or places to eat at? Let me know in the comments, thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

My favorite things about Spring! ๐ŸŒท

Hey guys!

Since Spring is right around the corner, I wanted to list some of my favorite things about Spring in no order whatsoever to get me excited for it!ย

  • That Spring smell! All of those flowers blooming and that fresh air finally making a comeback after months of cold, crisp air
  • Spending time outside – there is nothing better than knowing you can go outside and just enjoy the sun, even if you don’t have anything planned
  • Picnicsย  – I think they are the best in the Spring and Fall seasons because of all the beautiful colors
  • Flowers blooming – of course can’t forget about all of those beautiful flowers coming out and making your house or the park colorfulย
  • Road trips – this is possible anytime of the year pretty much, but when it’s nicer outside it’s much easier to take a fun weekend trip
  • Better mood – nice weather brings more positivity! People are much happier when it’s Springย
  • Daylight Savings goes away – the day is longer and you don’t feel like you have to take a nap when it hits 4-5pmย
  • The market – all fruits and veggies are out and super fresh! I always get excited for the new season to pick up some fresh fruit and veggiesย
  • You can open your windows – in the house or even in your car and it feels SO good!
  • Trees – the trees start getting their green colors back and your neighborhood doesn’t look like a ghost town

What are some of your favorite things about Spring? ๐Ÿ™‚

Gatlinburg, Tennessee Road Trip! ๐Ÿš—

Hi there!

Two weekends ago, we took a family trip to Gatlinburg pretty much up in the Great Smoky Mountains. It’s winter so obviously there isn’t greenery everywhere, but we were lucky to see some! And we also got to see snow very high up in the mountains.

The trip started on Friday when we left at 5am. I wasn’t even tired when I was getting up that morning, I was too excited for this trip even though I knew we had a long 7 hours ahead of us. We spent those 7 hours talking about random stuff and looking at the things we were driving past. My dad had some cool stories for us if we drove past something he remembered when he used to be a truck driver. The hours flew by and by the time we knew it, we were already approaching Gatlinburg. I forgot that this place was high up in the mountains and I got a little scared because my dad was driving – he’s not a bad driver, I just only trust myself when it comes to driving up in high elevations.

It took about 45 minutes to drive up to our cabin and when we finally got there, we couldn’t believe the views! It was a bunch of cabins built by each other, but far enough in between each other where you had your own privacy, so it was perfect. We found our cabin and as soon as we parked, I walked over to look at the views. There was some snow at the top so I was taking a bunch of pictures and everyone wanted pictures with that in the background. We had a little photoshoot and then started bringing our stuff inside.

The place was beautiful, so nicely decorated. I felt like a little kid running around saying “wow” to all of the stuff in there. I was super excited about the pool table and the jacuzzi because I already knew we’d be spending a lot of time with both of those. I took out my camera and started recording everything and everyones reactions. I think the first thing we did after unpacking was chilling in the jacuzzi and drinking some wine. It was so relaxing! It was a little chilly outside, nothing too cold, but perfect for the temperature of the jacuzzi. The views were great and the wine was great. My dad had a cold and was on medication and he couldn’t drink wine so we had to get him sparkling juice without alcohol. That was the funniest part since he is a huge wine fan! He still enjoyed it though.

We spent the next day exploring and driving around to see what cool stuff we could find. We went to a wine store and bought some really good wine and drove into this park that had a pretty river. We spent our nights playing pool and being competitive in UNO. UNO was so much fun and it was hilarious to see my parents play it as well. My sister was the sassiest one there, so we had to watch out for her! On our way back home, we stopped in Nashville to try some BBQ. It was good, but Texas BBQ still has my heart!

This was a great trip where lots of memories were made and lots of fun was had. Anytime with my family is a great time!!

Here are some pictures ๐Ÿ™‚

Planning for my Tennessee trip! ๐ŸŒฒ

I love planning for trips, it’s one of my favorite things to do. Even if it’s a short trip, I still like to plan out the stuff I’ll bring and the stuff I don’t want to forget. So even though this trip is only 3 days, I still go all out ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ I’m hoping for this weekend trip to be very social media free, I want to just unplug and relax. I think all of us need this so the only time I would be using my phone would be to take pictures and videos, in which I will also be using my camera.

So, the weather is saying there is a chance of snow/rain and I already am thinking about what shoes I’m bringing. Probably my duck boots, since those are great in the snow and rain. And since it’s a short trip, I don’t have to bring too much clothes!

The list of stuff I’m bringing:

Clothes

Pretty much just comfy clothing like:

  • leggings
  • undershirts
  • hoodies
  • hats
  • gloves
  • scarves
  • fuzzy socks
  • my slippers

What am I packing in my little book bag?

  • my camera
  • camera charger
  • phone charger
  • a good book to read
  • my iPad (only for movies at night if we’re bored or during the car rides)
  • a healthy snack
  • my notebook and a pen
  • my chapstick
  • deodorant
  • a body spray

Something random I might bring along is a couple board games like Sorry and UNO. That might be fun to play with the fam if we get bored (which is probably not going to happen because there will be amazing views and a nice jacuzzi to go along with them).

That’s what I usually carry when I travel anywhere. A smaller book bag is easier for me than carrying a purse. I’m not bringing any makeup for this trip because I feel like it’s pointless since it’s such a short trip and also, I don’t think I’ll need it ๐Ÿ™‚

So yeah, that’s pretty much all I’ll be bringing! The car ride is 7 hours long so let’s hope it goes by super fast. It will be a good trip!

Surprise Weekend Trip to Chicago! ๐Ÿ™

Hi all!

Thursday night we were just chilling watching New Girl (the usual) when I get an email on my phone from Mirhad. I was super confused and I see at the top it says, “Get ready for your trip coming up on…” and it cut off. So I open up the email and he booked a night for us to go to Chicago on Saturday!!! I was surprised and he had the biggest smile on his face after I opened it. I worked on Friday and we packed Saturday morning before we left, it was super quick since we only needed like one outfit and our PJ’s. We got there around 12pm and started exploring right away. He said he wanted to take me to Chicago to look at Christmas lights and go ice-skating (which I’ve been saying I wanted to do all Winter long) so it was so sweet of him to surprise me like that! We didn’t get to go ice-skating because the line was 2+ hours long, so we said another time. We still had fun though and I got to cross something off of my winter bucket list!

I have some awesome pictures I took, but also some cute pictures he took of me ๐Ÿ™‚

Overall, Chicago was cold, but not as cold as I expected it to be. Like you could still go outside as long as you’re bundled up, kind of like STL too. Pics below!

Dallas, Texas Trip 2018

Hey there!

Earlier this week I promised a Dallas blog post and I am here to fulfill that promise ๐Ÿ™‚

So this Dallas trip was meant to be a short, weekend trip. It was my birthday last Wednesday and we decided to leave on Thursday after I got off of work. One thing I will never do again is wait last minute to pack… I literally came home at 3pm and we wanted to leave at 5 so that left me 2 hours to pack everything I needed and also take a quick shower. It was lots of pressure to get out of the house by 5, but we did it and had to go grab some food and go to Walmart because we forgot something. So we actually ended up leaving around 6 lol. For a second I was annoyed because that means we have to drive until like 3-4am, but I got over it because after all IT IS a weekend trip ๐Ÿ™‚

We had lots of fun on the drive, lots of good music, some good snacks, and just the open road. Honestly, I feel like there really is no better feeling in life than taking a trip, driving out on the open road, blasting your favorite music, and forgetting about all of your worries.

We arrived at our Airbnb around 3-4am, I was a little scared of walking around so late at night in a new city, but it actually ended up being perfectly fine and safe. Our garage was right next to the Airbnb so we checked in with security. As soon as we got into our room, we knocked out. Woke up the next morning ready to explore. We swam a lot on the rooftop pool, ate lots of BBQ, and explored what the city had to offer. I didn’t take lots of pictures, but I took some and they are good memories to me.

It was a very fun trip and for the first time in my life, I heard Mirhad say “that was fun, we should do it again, I’m excited for the next trip!” Literally have never heard him say that, so I was so excited to hear it and that means many more weekend trips to come ๐Ÿ™‚ and also going back to Dallas because we had so much fun and it’s not that far!

His birthday is coming up so I am trying to figure out a cool city to visit, we want to take a train this time so it can literally be anywhere. Maybe Houston? He was saying he would like to visit Houston, but we’ll see. I think I’ll take off that Wed-Fri so that gives us some more time to enjoy his birthday week/weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyways, I recommend visiting Dallas if you haven’t already. It’s seriously a beautiful city, I mean all of Texas that we saw was super nice. Also – Southern Hospatality is so real, this is the first time I’ve experienced it and PEOPLE ARE SO NICE HERE! It’s so different compared to St. Louis and the people are so different and much nicer lol.

Go visit Dallas!!!! You won’t regret it.

Friday, weekend plans, & coffee! ๐Ÿ’ซ

Good morning!

I am working from home today, I feel like I just need to work from home once a week for a change of scenario. It keeps me motivated. Anyways, I also woke up this morning feeling sick so it is a good thing I am working from home. Hope whatever this is passes by Monday.

The other day I bought some glass coffee mugs (well 2) and they are so cute. I have been making coffee in them and it looks like a professional capuccino that was made in a coffee shop!

Planning to go shopping this weekend if I get any better. Hopefully I do because I need some new clothes in general and for the trip.

Sanela and I are getting our nails done Tuesday and we decided to go once a month and just treat ourselves because WHY NOT?! I think we deserve it ๐Ÿ™‚ so that will be fun, I am excited! I’m thinking about doing something like these colors:

Nails #1

Nails #2

Nails # 3

Nails #4

I wonder if they would be able to do some of these designs with gel polish or if it is only with acrylics? Super cute anyways!

I am looking for a book to read, so I am browsing Amazon to see recommendations, if you are reading this and have any good book recommendations, please let me know! ๐Ÿ™‚

I also bought a camera recently, the Canon G7X Mark II and I am loving it! I bought it to vlog and record memories of my husband and I so I don’t have to pull out my phone all of the time and I also have just wanted a camera for such a long time. So I decided to go ahead and try this one, so far it is AMAZING. The quality, size, and basically everything is so great. I did a lot of research before buying this camera so I knew I would love it! I was also thinking about possibly starting a Youtube channel, not sure what it would be about? I could do makeup, daily life activities, traveling, etc,. I guess it would primarily be about my life and I am not focused on having a bunch of followers, just want to share my videos! ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s all for now, I may blog again today, if not tomorrow then for sure because I want to possibly do a camera review? Or maybe a travel packing list for a short weekend trip like the one we are going on!

Until next time! ๐Ÿ™‚ย โœจ
