Looking back on my winter bucket list! ❄️

Good morning!

I was reading a post from LA which was about checking in on her winter bucket list. I thought this was such great idea to go back to your winter bucket list and see if you accomplished anything on there. Plus, winter is basically over and I have already started on my spring bucket list so there’s no better time to do this than now!

My list:

  • Drink hot chocolate and watch a movie in my pj’s w/ my husband yes, did this a lot of times.. maybe just once with hot chocolate though
  • Bake cookies and decorate them (sprinkles, frosting, etc) did bake cookies, just didn’t do the decorating part like I wanted to
  • Go see Christmas lights at least 3x yes! Saw many Christmas lights
  • Buy presents for family, wrap them, and put them under the tree yes! Had a post about this too, hours and hours of wrapping, but worth it
  • Go ice-skating we went at least 2x
  • Visit Chicago and see the lights + ice skate we did end up going to Chicago and we did get to see all the lights, but the line to ice skate was like 2+ hours and we weren’t going to wait that long so maybe next year
  • Plan an upcoming vacation yes, planned our Gatlinburg, TN trip
  • Watch as many movies as I can during my free time YES! Watched sooooo many movies it was ridiculous. I think 2018 was the year I became a movie lover
  • Write my 2019 goals yes + got a planner and updated it to the max
  • Decorate a gingerbread house with husband no, didn’t end up doing this sadly
  • Scrapbook was able to sit down and do it once, but I needed more supplies so until next time
  • Read yes! I actually got to read a lot this winter and I’m super proud of myself because I used to NEVER read books

I’d say I got most of this list done, the couple things I didn’t get to do was probably because we decided not to do it! Before I found my list, I really thought I wasn’t going to end up checking any of these off because usually I write a super long list and end up doing like 2 things only. I’m surprised, but it was a fun winter so it makes sense! 🙂

Thanks LA for the great idea! Everyone should check her page out, she’s awesome!

Vacation planning for May 2019 ✈️

Hi all!!!

This is a very exciting post for me because I’m going to write out our long 9-day trip that’s happening in May, day by day! We are calling it our honeymoon part 1 because there will be a part 2 eventually. We’ve been talking about going back to Santa Barbara for a while now and originally we were only going to go for four nights because everything was so expensive, but we found a way around it! We actually ended up making it a 9 day vacation and it wasn’t as expensive as it should’ve been. So here’s how we are planning it out.

Saturday May 25th to Sunday May 26th: Our flight leaves for LA at 5am and we will be there by 10am. We chose the LAX airport because it was much cheaper flying into LA than SB. That’s when we decided to go two days earlier than we planned and just stay in LA that weekend. We planned to go to the two parks in Disneyland and Universal Studios from the start, but just by making it a day trip from SB, but this is much easier and that way we have two full days to do whatever we want in LA. We also were able to find a cheap Airbnb right by Disneyland. But we are going to Disneyland and Universal Studios!!! I am SO pumped! It’s my first time so I’m acting like a kid, but I am too excited!

Monday May 27th to Sunday June 2nd: We rented a car so we will drive that morning from LA to SB, take a nice long cruise by the coastline, and enjoy some road trip time together. Cannot wait to see the views by the ocean and the mountains, it will be beautiful! We decided to spend the next 6 days in Santa Barbara because we found a really cheap Airbnb so we were able to stay longer than we thought. This will give us time to really soak up SB and enjoy what their city has to offer. We haven’t planned out every single thing we are doing yet, but I will update when we do! On that Sunday, we will drive back to LA and spend some time there before our flight in the evening. This is going to be the longest we’ve ever stayed in California, it’s going to be great!

That’s what we have planned so far, we literally just booked all the Airbnb’s, bought the flight tickets, and rented the car just yesterday! In a month, we’re going to purchase the Disneyland and Universal Studios tickets since those can really be purchased at any time.

Side note: I surprised Mirhad with this camera he has wanted so he could start filming (his dream is to be a director one day) and I went and bought it last night for him. He totally didn’t see it coming and had the best reaction! I told him this will be great for him taking pictures and videos of me on vacation 😂 Anyways, I’m happy he can finally use his own camera instead of mine and I know he is too! Hopefully he can learn how to use the camera like an expert by May so we can get some cool footage. Maybe by then my Youtube channel will be started?! 🙂

But yeah, that’s our trip planning. Has anyone else been to Disneyland or Universal Studios? Anything we HAVE to see?? Any recommendations for food in LA and Santa Barbara? I will do some research, but I’d love to hear from personal experience. 🙂

Sunday March 18, 2018

Hello!

This is a super late post, but it’s been a long weekend and I needed to write! So spring break is officially over, back to school tomorrow 😦 I wish it lasted a little longer, I feel like I didn’t get the mental break I deserved (maybe just three more days would’ve been perfect) but I have to go back. On the bright side, there is only 8 more weeks of school and I only have 2 classes to worry about which means I get to focus on my blog a lot, YAY! March, April, and May will be great months because there is so much going on. 2 weeks until Chicago and 3 weeks until LA ( I can’t wait, it’s been too long since I have left STL) so I have something to look forward to this month still. When I come back from LA, my bridal shower will be like 2-3 weeks away and honestly I’m not crazy excited about it, but that will pass quickly and by then I should be decorating my house?! We’ll see if we can finish everything. Speaking of the house, we are about to start putting in the flooring. It’s going to be so beautiful – the flooring, not the part where we have to do it all ourselves 😦 but I think we will finish quick.

I did some shopping in the last 3 days and was able to get some items that I have been wanting for a while. On Friday, I went to Ulta and Sephora to pick up some things I needed and have been wanting for a while now.

From Sephora, I went and purchased Fenty Beauty foundation, I have been trying to buy this foundation for so long and every time I went to the Sephora closest to me, they were always out of my shade. They ended up giving me a small sample of some moisturizer and I had 400 beauty points so I picked up this Clinique moisturizing gel hydrant. I haven’t tried it out yet, but I love Clinique products so I am sure it will be nice. After that, I went to Ulta to buy my favorite Clinique moisturizer that I have been out of for over 2 weeks (it’s a shame I know, my skin has been sooooo dry) but I finally picked some up and my skin is thanking me 🙂 While at Ulta, I was able to get a sample of another Clinique moisturizer that was super expensive ($50) and I actually really like it, it’s super hydrating and I am layering it in with my other cream. I also bought a St. Tropez Gradual Tan Everyday Body Lotion. I usually use the foam one from that brand, but I haven’t had to use it since like senior year of high school. I wanted to try this out because it had a lot of good reviews and honestly within 2 days I saw some nice color. I skipped a day today and will just do it every other day so it doesn’t look bad. I feel like I just needed some color, I’m so pale. It just doesn’t look right with my dark hair and plus it’ll make me feel better about my upcoming vacations and the pictures I take. Ulta ended up giving me that sample size of St. Tropez Gradual Tan Glow Lotion, I haven’t tried it yet but thanks Ulta!!! Last thing I bought was the Purity Made Simple Face Wash. I love this face wash, I had it in a smaller bottle a while ago and it was a good face wash. It is a little pricey, but it’s good!

After my shopping, I headed over to Mirhad’s and we just hung out. I found this recipe for some wine/fruity drink and we decided to try it out. We made wayyyyy too much for two people and ended up dumping a lot of it down the drain, but it was pretty good. This would be nice for a backyard BBQ drink so I am going to save this recipe. Here’s how it turned out:

Yesterday we worked on the house and I literally did nothing the whole night besides laying in my bed and I guess it was fun to relax a bit.

Today, me and Mirhad went to go play tennis with Ermin and Dzenana, but it ended up being too cold for that so we decided to go bowling instead. After bowling, we went to eat at El Maguey’s and it was pretty good. I dropped everyone off at home and asked Sanela if she wanted to go shopping. I ended up buying white jeans which I haven’t had since high school, I’ve been looking for a good pair and I finally found one! I also bought this cute denim shirt, usually they look super weird on me, but this fit good. I bought this Real Techniques brush set, it’s pink and comes with 3 brushes for blush and highlight and with a beauty blender. Last thing I bought was a small book bag for my travels (for hiking in LA and just walking around, much easier than a purse) and it was only $25 and has plenty of space inside. It will be perfect to carry my stuff in on the plane, too. I think I might take it to Chicago as well since I will be walking around a lot. Here’s the book bag:

I might make a separate post about it since I want to go in depth about how much room it has inside.

Tomorrow after class, I am going to catch up on my notes from micro so I can prep for my test next week (ugh already) and then I will do my micro homework. But before I do that, I am going to drink some coffee and blog 😀 I also need to email my teacher about not coming to Tuesday’s class because I will be getting my braces off!!!! 2 MORE DAYS!!!!

So yeah, that’s pretty much my whole weekend summed up, I’m excited for the next 8 weeks and can’t wait to blog all about it.

Good night!!! ❤

LA Trip Planning

Hello!

So I am going to LA to go to the Ellen Show and explore LA for the second time! I spent a couple of days researching the best places to stay at and finding the cheapest plane tickets.

So first, I checked Frontier Airlines to see their prices, I know they usually have good ones. This is what I found:

So as you can see, the prices are fine, but the problem is how long you will be traveling just to get to LA. The first one is taking me to Orlando and will take 14 hours and the second one is taking me to Denver (<3) and is much shorter than the first one, BUT the flight is just way too late. If I am going somewhere, I like to leave super early in the morning and arrive in the morning so I’m not wasting my whole day traveling! The returns were even worse, the first one would take me to Denver again, but this one takes 18 HOURS to get back home!!! So crazy, especially when there is a 6+ layover, I don’t know if I’d be able to sit at an airport for that long.. and the second one takes 9 hours, which is like 3 more than it should so it isn’t terribly bad, but it’s an overnight flight. So Frontier let me down, on to the next!

I figured I might as well try Travelocity and see if I could get a bundle deal that would include hotel + flight because that’s what I ended up doing the first time I took Mirhad to LA about 2 years ago was it??? I’ll have to check on that time. Anyways, the prices went from $600-$1,200+ a person for flight and hotel which I mean isn’t bad if you paid $600 for each person, but I just wasn’t finding a good place to stay at. I’m really picky when it comes to where I have to sleep while traveling just because I need for it to be clean in order to stay there. So these are examples of what was available on Travelocity:

I really wanted to stay in the Beverly Hills – Hollywood area just because I am familiar with that area from my last trip, but it was hard to find a hotel that was a good price, in a good area, and clean looking. Last time I went, I booked with Mama Shelter and I loved it there, it was such a cool scene.. I looked into booking there again, but it was a little too expensive for me so I passed. Plus, it’s always cool to stay at different places if you’re visiting the same place again!

So by this time, I went to check Airbnb’s and they had a lot of nice ones! So I checked for Airbnb’s around Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Burbank, Santa Monica, and Venice Beach.

So I mean they had a lot of choices, the part that was difficult was finding a good price. Yes, it’s LA, yes it’s California, so I didn’t expect anything super cheap. My main concern was making sure I was in a safe part of LA, I know there are some parts you deff need to avoid and after doing some research I knew where to stay away from.

Reddit was very helpful because I got real insight from real people. Obviously, wherever you go, act normal and don’t act obnoxious to the point where you draw bad attention to yourself. Anything can happen anywhere, but if I’m in a good neighborhood, then I’m happy! So, I looked around for a couple of days until I finally found one that was like $80 a night, which is a steal! It’s in a great area, it’s around everything I need to be around, and it’s cozy and clean! A++++++.

But I couldn’t book this without finding a way to get there first, obviously! So I went back on Travelocity and searched for some cheap tickets. I ended up finding a good deal, but I had to move my trip back one day which was fine anyways since we’ve been there before we now know exactly what we want to do.

Overall, this trip ended up being $600 cheaper than it was in the course of those couple of days of searching for good deals. So it ended up being about $550 per person for flight and Airbnb, which is a great deal. I think I paid maybe $200 more the last time I went? Glad we got it to a good price so we can spend our money on doing cool activities. We won’t be renting a car since we won’t stay longer than 4 days, but hopefully one day we can come back and stay a little longer and explore out of LA into more mountain areas!

If you plan on going to LA or anywhere for a trip, make sure to browse around for a couple of days (if possible) because prices really do change and if you search too quickly, you might find something cheaper later but you might not be able to cancel it. And don’t forget to always make sure you are staying in a good area, surrounded by lots of places to go eat!

Sunday March 11, 2018

GOOD MORNING!!!!!

Happy Sunday, I AM BACK!!!! Had a rough past two or so weeks trying to wrap up everything for school before spring break and right now I’m just so happy I am done with three of my classes and that I don’t have to worry about anything for the next week. So there is SO MUCH I need to blog about and I can’t wait to do it. My mood has increased so much ever since I finished my last final Thursday night, I feel like I am free (only for a week I guess) but when I do go back to school I only have to worry about two classes and I can spend a lot of my time doing anything else I want like BLOGGING, YAY. Worked my ass off to complete my three online classes and it feels good to get those A’s ❤ ❤

So where do I begin?! I’m going to Chicago later this month with Mirhad and some friends who wanted to go for their birthday and right after that I will be going to LA for a couple of days for the Ellen Show and also to just hang out up there, can’t wait to get some sun.. I need it hahaha. I will make a blog post about how I found the best prices for this trip (it was a struggle, Cali is expensive). I’m also probably going to be doing a post about budgeting or I might incorporate that into the same posts. And then of course when I go on the trips, I will have the obligatory travel posts – travel necessities list, what I packed, the trip itself, etc., so that will be fun!

It’s snowing today even though it was so nice yesterday…. typical. So since it’s snowing and I can’t sled on it, I’m spending the day in bed watching movies, catching up on my blogging, and just chilling. Well deserved!! Day light savings happened this morning so I woke up SUPER late, but it’s okay. I’m just so excited to be blogging again, I think it would’ve helped me deal with all of my stress if I was able to sit down and blog for 30 minutes, but I literally couldn’t even squeeze it in 😦

So what else happened??? I have a lot of house updates which I will talk about in a separate post. It’s almost time to start looking at furniture, that will be fun.

Last night me and Sanela had a girls night and we drank some wine along with some salmon, crackers, and cheese (our favorite thing ever for a chill night) and we ended up getting some Angry Orchard because we weren’t really feeling the wine. Although Sanela did end up finishing it off 😂 We had fun catching up, I haven’t seen her in forever and I missed her so much so we had a lot of fun. We ended up making 6 podcasts last night 😂😂😂 It was very random, but it consisted of us talking about random things like what we were doing at the moment, video games, and the last 3 or so podcasts consisted of us talking about our vacation experiences. I think when we look back at these in a couple of years, we will appreciate them because some of the things I mentioned she forgot about so it’s a good refresher for the future! Good way to remember good memories. We are going to try to do them every week, but I need to figure out where it gets saved on your phone and how I will be able to find it later on, if it gets too difficult, we might just have to do videos instead. But yeah, podcasts are fun, maybe I can ask Mirhad to do one with me too 😀

It’s almost Spring🌷so I will be changing my blog up a little bit, hopefully I will take some cool pictures on my trips and I could recreate my header, but without braces… OH YEAH I’M GETTING THEM OFF IN 9 DAYS WOOHOOOOOOO!!!!! I can’t wait to take new pictures without them! I will deff be updating my blog though in terms of header photo, background, etc., not a lot of themes out there that have what I want (like what I have now) but if I find a good one I will change that too.

So yeah, that’s all I can think of for now, I will be posting more soon 🙂 🙂

Byeeee!

Friday Feb. 23, 2018

Good morning!!!!!

Wanted to blog yesterday, literally had a post I was writing, but then I had to go help Mirhad study for his test. Currently I’m at the airport with Mirhad, we are looking at the wait times and how long it takes each person by timing them to see if it is accurate with their devices. Sitting here watching the TSA line really makes me want to buy a plane ticket and just go explore somewhere else. Oh, how I wish ✨

So I officially got 2 tickets to the Ellen Show and we were just looking at airplane ticket prices and it’s much cheaper on Frontier Airlines than if I used Travelocity and another airliner. About to look at Airbnb’s and see how much it would be because Airbnb’s are way better than a hotel, they just feel more homey. Hopefully they’re not too expensive!

I can’t believe I finished all of my online assignments before Friday, yay. I worked super hard for this! The only 2 things I have is for my classes is due Monday & Tuesday but it’s not too much work. So I can chill this weekend for a little bit yay! Next 2 weeks will be gruesome bc final projects and finals in my online classes, but when that’s over I will have a HUGE weight lifted off my shoulders. Then finally I can focus mainly on my two classes that I have M-TR and I can focus on other important stuff too! Yay, I can’t wait seriously. Spring Break cannot come any sooner. So since I’m going to the Ellen Show, I think I’m not gonna do anything for Spring Break and just stay in California for a couple days longer instead. That way I don’t go somewhere and then go somewhere again 2-3 weeks later.. the wait will be worth it!

Hmm, what else?? Still working on my 2017 best memories video.. taking longer than I thought it would hahahahaha.

But yeah, I think that’s pretty much it, there are some posts I have to make still that I haven’t had time to do.

See yaaaaa!
