What I’m packing for my weekend getaway to New Orleans! ✈️

Good morning and happy Monday you guys! 

My trip to New Orleans is 24 days away and you know I always love to plan ahead with everything because it makes me feel more organized. So I thought I’d go ahead and think about what I’m packing for those 3 days especially since we decided to go to the beach! 

I think I’m going to bring 4-5 outfits total to wear out in case I need to change or I’m not feeling it. So for those I will have to go shopping for, but this is how I am imagining it to be. 

  • two dresses (need to buy some pretty ones)
  • pair of jeans
  • leggings
  • 4 pairs of shirts, can be casual or fancy 
  • 4 pairs of shoes
    • converse
    • wedges
    • sandals
    • flip flops for the beach
  • swimsuit (need to buy a new one from Target soon unless my old ones can fit)
  • beach cover-up
  • sunglasses (need to buy a nice pair because I just gave mine to my mom)
  • possibly a cute sun hat
  • my pjs (a shirt and shorts)
  • an outfit to travel in for the car ride

I think that’s about all the clothes/accessories I should be bringing since we will just be gone for 3 days. I always overdo it, but I guess you can never have too many back up clothes right?! 

Some of the other things I’ll probably pack in my purse or book bag is my Kindle for the car ride so I can read my book, my planner (maybe, not sure if I want to carry this around yet), chapstick, wallet, my camera + charger, phone charger, and my camera stick. Want to carry around a light book bag, so I’m either going to use one of my older ones or get myself another one! I have been eyeing this Coach one, but I’m not 100% sure if I want to buy it yet.

Took a break – why it’s important!

Good morning guys!

It’s been a while and that’s because I decided to just take a mental break from all social media. I think it’s super important to step back and take a couple days to yourself by staying off the internet. There’s so many benefits to this, but I think the best benefit is getting to spend time with whoever you want without worrying about whether you’re missing out on something online. Because in reality, you aren’t. Nothing should be more important than being/living in the moment. 

I went online briefly to make my Women’s Day post, but for the rest of the break I spent a lot of time with my husband. I also caught up on Game of Thrones (I’m late I know) and we went rollerskating a lot! The weather has been good, not consistently, but good enough for us to get outside. We just got our skates recently so we’re still learning, but it feels great to pick up some speed and just exercise. Saturday was one of the best days weather wise. It was about 65 degrees and it rained in the morning, but by 1-2pm it was warm and sunny. Didn’t rain the rest of the day, so we took it to our advantage and went skating for an hour at the park in the afternoon. We went on an actual trail, we’ve been practicing on a parking lot the first couple of times. Saturday felt like spring and I don’t think my soul has been that happy in such a long time. It’s been a LONG winter, guys. 

Another plus to a social media break is that you get a lot more free time. Instead of being on my phone or computer for a couple hours, I was able to do other things like some chores I’m behind on or things I’ve been wanting to do but never have had time for. It also gave me more time to sit down and read. I always choose between browsing through Reddit or reading a book on my Kindle right before I go to bed. I usually end up browsing Reddit and the last couple of days I’ve been reading instead. It’s a good decision to make! 

Anyways, moral of the story is that mental breaks are much needed and everyone should take them as often as they can and as often as they’d like. Everything will be there right when you get back and you won’t miss out on much!

Does anyone else do this? I try to do it every once in a while, but I think I’ll be doing it way more often. 

Hello March! 🌼

Good morning!!

Happy Friday guys! 

I woke up this morning feeling very refreshed and looked outside my window only to find more ice on the ground. I had great sleep and then I realized it’s March and got super excited! The weather forecast is showing that it will get much warmer after the 8th of March. So glad the winter is finally going away and I can enjoy some fresh air. Speaking of a new month, that means we have some goals to write out! 

Goals for March:

  • Learn a new sport (already have one on mind, will make a video about it)
  • Lose 10-15 pounds 
  • Start vlogging – post first video on Youtube 
  • Be consistent with my blog posts
  • Make a laundry routine so we don’t fall behind on laundry
  • Share my blog, be more open about it 
  • Workout 5x a week
  • Sleep 8 hours every night and wake up at 5 am every morning
  • Go to bed earlier
  • Clear up my acne scarring/skin 
  • Spend time outdoors as much as I can as soon as it gets warmer outside
  • Read at least 1 book
  • Get back into writing my to-do lists
  • Save money from every paycheck for our future vacations
  • Buy our Disneyland and Universal Studios tickets before the end of the month
  • Work on myself, mentally and physically
  • Only buy new clothes if I lose weight 
  • Have at least 3 date nights with my husband 
  • Spend less time on my phone and more time with my husband 

That sounds like a pretty good list and things I can for sure accomplish! I didn’t want to make it too goal heavy because sometimes it gets unrealistic, but I know that I could do a bunch of these. And even if I only do 50% of this list, it’s still something!

Surprise Weekend Trip to Chicago! 🏙

Hi all!

Thursday night we were just chilling watching New Girl (the usual) when I get an email on my phone from Mirhad. I was super confused and I see at the top it says, “Get ready for your trip coming up on…” and it cut off. So I open up the email and he booked a night for us to go to Chicago on Saturday!!! I was surprised and he had the biggest smile on his face after I opened it. I worked on Friday and we packed Saturday morning before we left, it was super quick since we only needed like one outfit and our PJ’s. We got there around 12pm and started exploring right away. He said he wanted to take me to Chicago to look at Christmas lights and go ice-skating (which I’ve been saying I wanted to do all Winter long) so it was so sweet of him to surprise me like that! We didn’t get to go ice-skating because the line was 2+ hours long, so we said another time. We still had fun though and I got to cross something off of my winter bucket list!

Overall, Chicago was cold, but not as cold as I expected it to be. Like you could still go outside as long as you’re bundled up, kind of like STL too. Pics below!

 

Tips for happier flying and a more enjoyable flight! ✈️

We all get excited to go on a vacation and if we get to fly out somewhere we know that eventually it gets boring on the plane. On my last trip, we had a four hour plane ride and I was losing my mind half way through it. I wish I had a list of things that would’ve improved that flight and made it more enjoyable which is why I am making a list of tips for future reference and for anyone else out there that gets bored on flights 🙂

  • Download games on your phone/iPad
  • Listen to some nice, relaxing music – since you usually don’t have Wifi on a plane unless you pay for it, I download a playlist on Spotify to use offline
  • Have a comfy pillow or blanket with you
  • Bring a coloring book or download a similar app on your phone
  • Bring your favorite snacks if you don’t like what they serve on the flight
  • Meditate – I have an app called Headspace that is great for this
  • Use essential oils to relax you
  • Make yourself comfortable
  • Bring a notebook and write down your thoughts, plans, goals, or lists
  • Read a good book
  • Plan out your week/trip if you haven’t already or a future trip
  • Buy a crossword puzzle book – I got a set of 3 game books that had Sudoku, word search, and a crossword
  • Clean up your phone – delete apps you don’t use, organize your pictures, clean out your contacts list, etc.,

Weekend plans + my Christmas tree!! 🎄

Hi all!!

It’s been a couple days since I last posted and I have to say it’s not because I’ve been lazy, but because I’ve been SO BUSY at work! Seriously, this week has felt like it’s 100 years long and it doesn’t help that I’ve had to sit in meetings pretty much all day everyday this week. I cannot wait until next Thursday because everything will slow down and everyone will be going on vacation in the next couple days. I will be blogging a lot during Christmas week because I will have way more time to. I will also do something I’ve been putting off for over 2 months now – my vacation video! Speaking of vacations, I could really use one right now 🙂

My schedule is pretty packed this weekend – my two best friends are graduating college so we’re having a dinner thing with one of them and a house party for the other one, I have a baby shower to attend, and of course attending the actual graduations too. On top of that, I need to go buy them gifts, the baby shower gifts, figure out what white elephant gifts I will bring for next week, and get holiday gifts for some of my co-workers. So lots of stuff to buy this weekend! Need to save up some money for the after Christmas sales because that’s when the have the good stuff 😉

I put up my Christmas tree like as soon as Halloween was over (super early, I know) so it’s been decorated and there are some gifts underneath it. I actually got this fake tree last year during the after Christmas sales. It was originally $50 maybe? Not 100%, but I paid $10 for it so it was a steal! So here is mine, it’s not dark outside, otherwise it looks better, but it’s still cute!

So there you have it, my Christmas tree and my weekend plans. Hoping to do my Black Friday Haul post soon, just have to find everything I bought!

100 followers!!!! 🎉🎉

A year ago, I started this blog with the intention of it just being something I write in to look back on in a couple of years. I didn’t expect myself to still be blogging 1 year later or to even get to 100 followers, but oh my gosh!!!!! This is SO EXCITING!!! 🎉🎉

After a couple months of blogging, I realized how much I enjoy doing this and that I want to continue doing it so I set a goal of reaching 100 followers in a year. So here I am, a year later and I’m still loving this whole blogging thing. I really want to make it my full time job one day and I hope I can make that dream come true. 

Recently, I also decided to start writing posts about things that interest me and things I think would interest you guys instead of just rambling about my days. I think it makes it more fun and I have some good topics in store for yall! 

So I just wanted to take some time and say THANK YOU! Thank you for reading, following, and even taking the time to comment something nice! I am thankful for each and every one of you. Thank you for supporting my dream! 🙂 ❤
