Fun things to do in New Orleans!

Good morning!

Happy Monday! Over the weekend, I thought of the great idea of going to New Orleans. My husband and I agreed we would go on a lot of weekend trips, but haven’t been since the end of January and mid December. Before that, we hadn’t gone on a weekend trip since my birthday. It’s time to start doing those again because, why not? Life is too short to not be traveling! The main reason I chose New Orleans was because it’s much warmer down there than it is here. Right now, it’s 7 degrees and it feels like -11. I’m really sick of the bitter cold, so a weekend getaway to a warmer place would be nice. Plus, I feel like it’s going to take forever for it to be really warm here so we need to go! We’d most likely do Friday-Sunday so we can get the full experience and so that we don’t have to drive into the city at night. It’s just easier to take a day off of work and leave when we wake up that Friday morning. We are targeting end of March or anytime into April depending on the prices.ย

Since then, I’ve been looking at some things we could do. So far I’ve come up with taking pictures of the beautiful buildings and eating the delicious food.ย

  • Visit Jackson Square
  • Walk on Bourbon Street and enjoy some music
  • Look at the beautiful buildings in French Quarter
  • Visit the Garden District
  • Explore the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas
  • Visit the French Market
  • Go to the City Park
  • Walk down Royal Street
  • Visit some cemeteriesย
  • Canal Street

Food:

  • Beignets
  • Fried Chicken and corn
  • Fried shrimp
  • Gumbo
  • Crab
  • Crawfish
  • Po-Boys

Has anyone else been to New Orleans? Any suggestions on where to stay or places to eat at? Let me know in the comments, thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

My 5 favorite purchases from Amazon!

Hi all!

I love Amazon and I feel like my husband and I order from there quite often. So I thought it would be a cool idea to show you guys my top 5 favorite purchases in no order and why I like them!

#1:ย Camera & Phone Tripod

  • I really like this tripod because the last one I had was the type where you could pull these circles off and make it smaller or whatever and it was just annoying dealing with it. This one is sturdy and can’t break easily. It wasn’t super expensive either. It also comes with a phone mount thing where you could put your phone and it has a camera mount if you want to put your digital camera. One more awesome perk is that it comes with a remote shutter which is super cool!ย

#2:ย Dimmable Fluorescent Ring Light

  • This is the first time I’ve purchased a ring light and I have to say that this changes EVERYTHING! Yesterday I was checking out my makeup in the mirror and had this light on – it made my skin look flawless. I could see every detail whereas on my regular mirror, it’s hard to see if I messed up somewhere. I bought this to use when I make Youtube videos or when I take pictures, so I think this was a good investment. I got the cheaper version of the two since I didn’t really care what color the metal was, works fine either way.ย

#3:ย Mezzaluna Chopper and Knife

  • Okay this is one of the coolest kitchen tools we own! One time, we got a salad at Subway and they used some blade thing to chop the salad in a big bowl and literally the salad was amazing. So later on, we find out that this is the tool they use! We found it on Amazon for a great price and tried it the other day when making a salad. It chopped through lettuce, cucumbers, and chicken. It was so good! The blades are really sharp so I’d be careful around this one!

#4:ย Bed Head Deep Waver for Beachy Waves

  • This reminded me of a crimper from like way back in 6th grade. It makes beautiful beachy waves! My hair is medium length right now and it makes it look so wavy I love it. I can’t wait until it grows even longer, I’ll feel so tropical. I watched a Youtube video of someone using this on short hair too and it looks so pretty. If you look at the reviews, you can see how it looks on different hair styles. One of the best purchases for my hair lately.ย

#5:ย simplehuman Rectangular Step Trash Can

  • My husband broke our trash can over the summer – I washed it and left it outside to dry and he ended up dropping it to the point where it broke and wasn’t usable anymore. We were thinking about just replacing a piece (the black can inside), but it was pointless to do since that wasn’t really cheap either. Also, it’s tough finding one that exactly fits yours when you don’t even know what trash can it is anymore! So we searched for months and decided to get this one. Best decision ever!! This trash can is great and it closes by itself slowly so it doesn’t slam on anything. They also gave us a sample of their trash bags that are like a true fit to our specific can and I think we’re going to purchase some more because they’re amazing. It’s so easy to pull the trash bag out whereas before it was a struggle. It’s also a good size for a not so big kitchen.ย

So that’s my list, have you tried any of these items?? Let me know in the comments! ๐Ÿ™‚

TGIF!

Happy Friday!!!

So glad it’s Friday, it’s been a busy week and I am happy to relax a bit this weekend and get some stuff done that I should’ve gotten done a while ago lol. Hate the feeling of having something to do on your list and you just never get around to it… so annoying!!!

Mirhad and I made this chicken veggie thing in the crockpot and it didn’t turn out as good as it should’ve ๐Ÿ˜ฆ last time we made something with the crockpot, we had a bunch of chicken + potatoes… I think that’s what made it taste so good lol. So I guess we’ll have to through it out and try something else next time.ย

Mirhad woke me up at 6am this morning to wake up for work so I can help him with this idea he had so I’ve been up since 6 and working since 6:30. So I guess the good thing about this is that I can stop working around 2:30 ๐Ÿ˜€ย

Today I have some stuff I need to get done, but I am just going to do them throughout the day. #1 is organizing my bills and seeing what’s left to pay. Sometimes being an adult sucks lol, I miss those days where I didn’t have to worry about utility bills ๐Ÿ˜ฆ oh well, I think it’s worth it!

But yeah, I’m trying to think of what else?? I really want to make that blog post today about what I need to buy/bring on our trip, I hope I can sit down today and just get started on that. It’ll help me later on so I don’t have to panic last minute and look for things I need.ย

One question…. WHY ARE HOTELS IN VEGAS SO DAMN EXPENSIVE?!??!?!? Like come onnnnn, this is way too overpriced! Ugh, I need to think of an alternative or get lucky and find something cheap. So I am currently on a hunt to find the best place, it’s only for one night so how hard can this possibly be lol.ย

Okay that’s it, rant over! Did I really rant tho?? Idk maybe lol.

See ya! ๐Ÿ™‚

Tuesday!!!

Good morning/afternoon!

Happy Tuesday, one more day until Wednesday which means we’re one step closer to Friday & the weekend!!! Nothing particularly going on, just want to relax with my hubby ๐Ÿ™‚ย

Went to work this morning until lunch time and then I decided to come home, just because I wanted to work from home. Also, my stomach is bothering me for some reason so it’s better that I am at home right now lol. So for the rest of the day I’ll work from here. Not sure what we’re going to do after work, but I think we should go grocery shopping because we haven’t in a while. Yesterday I just went to Aldi to grab some chicken and ground beef, so we still need some more items.ย

I also got some stuff from the dollar store so I can make DIY fall stuff, I think I might do a tutorial on here or something. I am going to make a wreath to hang on the front door and maybe I’ll put something on the backdoor too. I can’t believe they already had their fall stuff out. I got so excited when I saw everything on Pinterest so I just went to see if they had it and I’m glad I did because the cashier said everything goes fast. I also got the cutest little glass pumpkins in white and gold.ย

-Update: I just finished the wreath and will be writing a post about it very soon!!! It was super easy!

Well, I gotta go now. See ya soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

Saturday March 24, 2018

Hi!

Happy Saturday! It’s very cold and rainy here and it’s making me soooo lazy, but I need to snap out of it because I have to catch up on this financial management homework and notes. Went with Sanela this morning so she could finally buy a Macbook, yay!!! And then I went to the house because my parents are doing the floors and it looks SO GOOD. I love the color we picked, I think it goes perfectly with the house. Will do a house update post soon ๐Ÿ˜€

Today, I am going to finish my financial management stuff and just chill. I’m at Sanela’s currently, blogging, and we are making some chicken masala with rice. Hopefully it turns out good.

Will try to make another fun post later tonight when I finish this work!

See ya! ๐Ÿ™‚

Baked Chicken with vegetables recipe

Made this last week and it is SO good! This can be done with any vegetables you have laying around. I used: red and yellow peppers, onions, mushrooms, and sweet potatoes.

Oven temp: 450 degrees

Cook time for vegetables: 40 min

Cook time for chicken: 40 min

I add the vegetables in before the chicken (like 10 min just bc it took me a little bit to cut it up and prepare it) and then have them in there at the same time baking. You could put them in at the same time, too. I put aluminum foil over my chicken and bake it like that for 40 mins (don’t have a pic of it baking, I forgot :() So using the foil, the chicken turns out super moist and delicious.

Cut up all vegetables how you’d like and add oil over them with whatever spices you prefer

The finished product! Delicious ๐Ÿ™‚

One of my favorite recipes lately, enjoy!

Chicken with quinoa and vegetables recipe

Hi!

I made up this recipe a couple of weeks ago so it’s my own recipe which is pretty awesome! So here we go!

So here are all of the ingredients: quinoa (I bought the one from Walmart that you cook in the bag in the microwave for 4 min), 1 and a half cup of mixed vegetables (this has corn, carrots, green beans, and peas), handful of spinach, garlic, 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, and I used 9 chicken tenderloins (they’re really small, forgot to take a picture of the chicken)

IMG_1527

Vegetables should be cooked first, brought to a boil and then let it cook for 5-8 minutes

IMG_1532

Peel two pieces of garlic like this

IMG_1529

Then dice them up to tiny pieces

IMG_1531

Next, prepare the chicken. Cut them up into little pieces like this and then season it

IMG_1530

Heat up a pan and let the chicken cook for a bit, I added water to mine so it was softer and didn’t burn as quick while waiting for the other food

IMG_1534

Next, add that garlic into a pan with oil (I use olive, any kind works)

IMG_1533

After the garlic changes color a bit, add in the spinach

IMG_1535

Let the spinach cook for a minute or two (it cooks super fast)

IMG_1536

Add in 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, stir

IMG_1537

Add in the chicken, and vegetables you drained, and then mix it all

IMG_1538

Add in the quinoa and let it cook for another 1-2 minutes

IMG_1539

And that’s it! Finished product ^^^ super tasty ๐Ÿ™‚
